Guía para mejorar la resiliencia y reducir los impactos en la cooperación internacional La Guía para la Integración del Clima, el Medio Ambiente y la Reducción del Riesgo de Desastres CEDRIG es una herramienta destinada a ayudar a los jefes de proyecto a analizar, por una parte, si las estrategias, programas y proyectos de cooperación actuales o planificados están expuestos al riesgo de desastres derivados de la variabilidad del clima, el cambio climático, la degradación medioambiental y/o las actividades tectónicas y, por otra parte, si tienen un impacto en las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero y/o en el medio ambiente. Esta guía está estructurada en dos partes principales: La Parte I esboza la razón de ser y el marco de la guía CEDRIG de la COSUDE y le brinda al usuario información sobre el procedimiento a seguir, así como definiciones clave, explicaciones y materiales de apoyo. La Parte II contiene el manual práctico. Ésta constituye lo esencial del documento que guiará en el proceso de examinar y evaluar si las estrategias, programas o proyectos están expuestos a riesgos significativos de desastres resultantes de la variabilidad del clima, el cambio climático, la degradación medioambiental y/o las actividades tectónicas y si éstos tienen un impacto significativo en las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero y/o en el medio ambiente. Esta guía contiene explicaciones y consejos prácticos que guiarán al usuario en el proceso de CEDRIG.

Cooperation Strategy Horn of Africa 2013–2016 Destabilised by conflicts, recurrent food crises, and the disruptions of climate change, the Horn of Africa is a highly vulnerable region. In keeping with the Federal Council's Message to Parliament on International Cooperation 2013–2016, Switzerland will be reinforcing its involvement there, focusing on the issues of food security, health, good governance and migration.

Climate and Development: A Double Dividend Several years ago the SDC launched four Global Programmes on Climate Change, Food Security, Migration,and Water, respectively. In the interests of maximum impact, the SDC Global Programme on Climate Change focuses its efforts on only four countries: China, India, Peru and South Africa. The latter is omitted from the present review as programme-related activities are still in their infancy there. The structure of the present report follows that of the Global Programme itself, with sections on political dialogue, operational experience and knowledge-sharing.

Swiss Contribution: Interim report for the end of the EU 10 commitment period By voting in favour of the Federal Act on Cooperation with the States of Eastern Europe on 26 November 2006, Swiss voters cleared the way for a billion-franc investment in the ten countries which joined the European Union in 2004. Following Parliament’s approval of the relevant framework credit on 14 June 2007, the enlargement contribution finally came into being. Five years on, the initial project approval phase has been completed. These projects will be implemented over the course of the next five years, up to 2017.This brochure provides a host of interesting facts and background information on the projects and the countries in which these projects are being implemented.

Swiss Health Foreign Policy Switzerland's new health foreign policy, which entered into force in March 2012, sets goals regarding health and regulates cooperation between federal offices in this sector. It aims to promote the development of a coherent position by Switzerland in international bodies dealing with health questions in order to respond more effectively to current health-related issues such as fighting pandemics, prevention and treatment of non-transmissible diseases, shortage of staff in the health sector at the global level and reform of the World Health Organisation (WHO). Health is a priority theme of Swiss development cooperation and is one of the Millennium Development Goals.

Purchase of goods and services by multinational organisations As a complement to the periodic publications on the economic repercussions of public development aid in Switzerland, this independent study examines the development of purchases of goods and services by multilateral organisations from Swiss companies during the decade beginning in 2000. It analyses Switzerland's role compared with that of other industrialised and emerging countries. The results show that Switzerland is in a very good position among the suppliers of the United Nations and of the World Bank.

Evaluation of the performance of SDC instruments in fragile and conflict-affected contexts Evaluación La evaluación sobre el rendimiento de los instrumentos de la COSUDE en contextos frágiles y afectados por conflictos reveló que la COSUDE está en buenas condiciones para trabajar en los Estados frágiles. Tiene una combinación adecuada de enfoques, buenos instintos a nivel operacional y puede desempeñar un valioso papel en el sistema internacional. Para concretizar este potencial, la COSUDE debe ser más flexible y complementar sus esfuerzos técnicos con un entendimiento y un posicionamiento políticos. La COSUDE tiene una serie de instrumentos que funcionan bien en los contextos frágiles. Annual Report 2011 SECO/SDC on Switzerland's contribution to EU enlargement The approval process for projects within the frame of the Switzerland's Enlargement Contribution unfolded in a satisfactory manner. Numerous projects that had been approved in the previous years were able to be further implemented according to plan. 14 June 2012 marks the end of the commitment period for the Enlargement Contribution to the benefit of the EU 10. After the commitment period has come to an end, the competent authorities in Switzerland and in the partner countries will provide information on all of the approved projects. A first status report is planned to be published in June and an expanded status report in autumn 2012.

The Swiss Water Footprint Report: A global picture of Swiss water dependence The SDC, WWF together with the interdepartemental goup IDANE Wasser, have published the first ever report on Switzerland’s water footprint. Finding: 82% of the water required to produce all the goods and services consumed in our country comes from abroad. The report emphasises that Switzerland has a shared responsibility in respect of sustainable water management on a planetary level, and proposes a set of recommendations.

Repercusiones económicas de la ayuda pública al desarrollo en Suiza El estudio independiente pone de manifiesto que la ayuda pública al desarrollo (APD), destinada a reducir la pobreza y a apoyar el desarrollo económico y social de los países contrapartes, tiene también efectos positivos sobre la economía y el empleo en Suiza. El cálculo de las repercusiones económicas de la APD, que responde a un postulado de 1981, se efectúa a intervalos regulares. Las conclusiones que se refieren a los datos del año 2010 son en su conjunto comparables a los estudios precedentes.

Teaching Materials: Development Cooperation - Switzerland's Multifaceted Commitment The offering of teaching materials provided by the Foundation for Education and Development is meant to arouse the interest of pupils beginning with the secondary-school1st level for the core concerns of development cooperation. Les interactions de la Suisse avec le monde La brochure Les interactions de la Suisse avec le monde traite des interactions complexes qui, dans le contexte de la mondialisation, existent entre la Suisse et le monde dans les domaines de la politique, de l'économie, de la société et de la coopération internationale. L'interdépendance est en effet une caractéristique de notre époque. Avec la mondialisation, il n'y a pratiquement plus de problème qui n'ait pas une portée mondiale. Et la politique de développement, elle aussi, doit trouver des réponses aux défis qui se posent à la Suisse.
