The three main processes of the international dialogue to consider these coming years are the Global Forum on Migration and Development, under assessment in 2012, the High Level Dialogue in 2013 and the Post-2015 debate. As the M&D issue still asks for broader commitment by governments and by development stakeholders, and considering that taking stock of progress achieved is still rather challenging, there is room for improvement that Switzerland and GPMD will explore.

The migrants, their families and communities feel safer, are less economically and socially vulnerable, and are empowered to take better advantage, together with their governments, of development opportunities linked to migration.

The GPMD will focus on three major outcomes in its engagement into the international dialogue,: 1. Shape a more inclusive, effective and development oriented governance of migration; 2. Strengthen the voice of development in the global dialogue on M&D and in selected organisations; 3. Ensure that migration is an issue in the international development debate and within selected development organizations

1. Experience in “Whole-of-government” approach (IMZ) through 2011 GFMD Chairmanship. 2. More effective participation and recognition of civil society in the GFMD. 4. Relevance of articulating thematic contribution in the GFMD and the GPMD’s experiences in the field. 5. Substantial knowledge gained and innovative projects launched with selected development actors of the GMG
