The international photographic exhibition «New Afghanistan through Afghan Eyes»
(«EinBlick Afghanistan») presents the varied reality of modern Afghanistan from the viewpoint of young Afghani artists. In contrast to media reports that focus mainly on a country ravaged by war, the
photographs in this exhibition provide an insight into everyday life, culture, society and the economy, into modern and traditional life that goes on despite the violent conflicts.
The art of photography and photo reporting has made huge progress in Afghanistan today, asthis exhibition underlines.Between 2001 and 2011, four young Afghani photographers, Najibullah Musafir, Basir Seerat, Reza Sahel und Reza Yamak, took over 10,000 photographs in 24 provinces of the country. In 2007 they founded the 3rd Eye Centre for Film and Photo Journalism, in which all their work is archived. The centre is the first of its kind in Afghanistan and specialises in news and art pictures, photo reporting, multimedia training, exhibitions, photographic and film documentation. More than20 photographers from various parts of the country are now working for 3rd Eye.
The exhibition entitled New Afghanistan through Afghan Eyes presents a selection of their best photographs. In September 2011, the exhibition was shown in Kabul for 10 days and attracted over 5000 visitors. The exhibition was then shown in another nine provinces of the country between October 2011 and June 2012. The project is supported by the SDC to mark the 10th anniversary of its cooperation with Afghanistan.
