The SDC has approximately 30 cooperation offices in Africa, Asia, Latin America, Eastern Europe and the CIS. As a rule, coordinators manage a cooperation office for four to six years in one of the main priority countries.
In so doing, they represent all international cooperation with Switzerland, including areas involving other federal institutions such as the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (seco). In certain places, they also assume Swiss consular or diplomatic tasks.
Concrete responsibility for project implementation is usually borne by local partner organizations, however, coordinators must guarantee the correct usage of funds. They observe the development policy situation, cultivate and ensure contacts to authorities and partners involved and coordinate, i.e. promote joint actions with other states and organizations.
Requirements:
- Several years of experience within the SDC as a program manager in Bern or in a cooperation office
- Leadership and management skills
