Information for SDC suppliers and consultants
Each year, the SDC places an impressive number of orders. But even so, the acquisition of materials (purchase of goods) is constantly declining and is at the moment of minimal importance.
On the other hand the demand for services has risen steadily in volume. Consulting services covering a vast array of activities and of varying duration are required by a wide range of departments and divisions. These services are mainly carried out in third world countries.
Bidders for contracts are individual consultants, specialized small firms, university institutes, and public and private institutions including aid organizations.
Geographical and technical factors are taken into account in assigning the organizational unit responsible for placing the contract. The Service Mandates, Procurement, and SAP coordinates and
monitors the acquisition of services, particularly during bidding for contracts. The Service Mandates, Procurement, and SAP is responsible for correct procedure in awarding contracts.
