Federal Councillor Micheline Calmy-Rey will travel to the Democratic Republic of Congo and to Tanzania from 9-13 February 2010 to hold talks on ministerial level. The trip will focus on Switzerland’s cooperation and development activities, in particular in the health sector.

The activities of Humanitarian Aid in the disaster area
The violent earthquake that struck Haiti has caused enormous damage. The emergency aid that the Swiss Confederation sent immediately is intended to supplement the aid that Switzerland has already been providing Haiti in order to continue and reinforce the existing programme.

Education for all
Progress has been made but efforts must be redoubled to meet the 2015 goal
A decade has passed since the international community adopted the goals of education for all (EFA).The Global Monitoring Report on the follow-up to EFA sums up the  situation, identifies certain causes of marginalisation, proposes possible ways forward and calls on donors and on governments to renew their financial pledges so that the goals of education for all can be achieved by 2015.
