Bolivia: promoting community development with citizen participation

With project Concertar the SDC is helping communities in Bolivia to plan investment, make efficient use of resources and improve the range of services offered. The project also seeks to increase the involvement of the populace in the planning, decision-making and control process. In the interest of regional economic development, cooperation will also be undertaken between the private sector and farmers' organizations. Not only does poverty decrease in municipalities with improved local leadership, it also becomes possible to resolve conflicts more peacefully.
